Behavior Challenges

After experiencing trauma, we feel unsafe long after the event itself is over. The resulting brain changes interfere with our ability regulate our emotions and behaviors.

Our practice is built on a platform of trauma-informed care. We operate under the assumption that every individual is doing the best they can and we need new tools to do better. Difficult emotions and harmful behaviors don't occur in a vacuum: they serve a function. Sometimes the behaviors or emotions that cause us the most pain are a result of our brain trying it's best to keep us safe. There's nothing "broken" about you. We just need to learn some new tools.

The Four "R's" of a Trauma Informed Approach:

Why Does Trauma Informed Care Matter?

Trauma-informed care helps to rebuild the trust that was destroyed by previous abuse. It allows for the development of a transparent, collaborative relationship with a therapist invested in your healing. Trauma informed care allows survivors to feel empowered and in control of their own life. This is the key to understanding and compassion that all clients deserve.
